Compact flange

A compact flange is a type of flange used in piping systems that are designed to be lighter, stronger, and more reliable than traditional flanges. It is also known as a “Hubless” or “Type C” flange.

The compact flange consists of three components: a metal seal ring, a metal flange body, and a set of bolts. The metal seal ring is compressed between the flange body and the mating flange, creating a leak-tight seal. The flange body is designed to prevent excessive deformation of the seal ring and to distribute the load evenly across the bolts.

Compact flanges have several advantages over traditional flanges. They are much lighter and smaller than conventional flanges, which makes them easier to handle and install. They also have a lower profile, which allows for easier installation in tight spaces. In addition, compact flanges are more resistant to vibration, fatigue, and thermal cycling than traditional flanges, which makes them ideal for use in demanding applications.

Compact flange, similar to a swivel ring flange, is a two-piece constructed flange used extensively for offshore pipelines, offshore industry applications and onshore and sub-sea applications. Its double sealing action prevents hydrocarbon releases to address health and safety issues and concerns. A compact flange offers significant weight and space savings over conventional flanges and leak-free joint integrity, and therefore is the most effective environmentally friendly piping joint available.
